Patricia Castle Richardson is an American actress best known for her portrayal of Jill Taylor in the ABC comedy Home Improvement, for which she was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Leading Actress in a Comedy Series and twice for the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series: Comedy or Musical. She also received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her performance in Ulee's Gold (1997). After Home Improvement, Richardson starred on the show Strong Medicine and also had a recurring role on The West Wing. Most recently, she has played guest roles on NCIS, Blindspot and The Blacklist, and has appeared in the television films A Christmas in Tennessee and A Very Vintage Christmas.
Tobolowsky initially suggested to Home Improvement producers that Richardson be considered for the role of Jill Taylor after Frances Fisher was considered too serious for the role. In the twelfth episode of the fourth season of Last Man Standing titled Helen Potts, Richardson was invited as the title character and reunited with his former Home Improvement co-star, Tim Allen. In 1991, three months after giving birth to twins, Richardson became a last-minute replacement for Frances Fisher in what would be her breakout role as Jill Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement. I lived with a guy who knew about quality home repairs, but he had to deal with his antics and a family of young children who wanted to start problems on their own.Since leaving Home Improvement, Patricia Richardson has continued to act in various television shows and films.
